Internet shopping has been increasing in popularity for the past decade, but with the rise of the smartphones and other mobile devices, more and more shopping is being done on the go with the swipe of a touch screen. Current estimates show about one in 10 Internet users shop on their smartphones. This holiday season, experts expect those numbers to increase.
Shopping on your smartphone or other mobile device this holiday season can save time and help you avoid the hassle of crowded malls and crazy parking lot drivers. Here are just a few of this season’s top apps to make holiday shopping online a breeze.
RedLaser is a free app available on Apple iOS, Android and Microsoft Windows phones. The app can be used to compare prices from different retailers so you’ll be sure to find the best bargain. RedLaser also can be used in store by scanning items or you can order items directly through the app to avoid annoying lines and busy stores.
Santa’s Bag is another free app which is available on Apple iOS. This nifty app helps you monitor your spending by keeping track of gifts purchased and money spent for each person on your gift buying list. It allows users to lists each person their buying gifts for along with the budget per person and overall budget. A meter runs besides each name and will turn red if you go over budget. Santa’s Bag also includes a countdown to Christmas so you know exactly how many shopping days are left.
The app from one of the nation’s largest retailers is just one of many store apps available for Google Android and Apple iOS. This one alerts you to weekly deals, allows you to set up a shopping list and checks store availability. The Target app even provides coupons for extra savings and, of course, you can order items through the Target app for home delivery.
In addition to being one of the top online shopping sites, Amazon also offers a free app for Apple iOS and Google Android devices. The app allows you to shop from Amazon and other retailers on your smartphone just as you would on your desktop computer. Just like Amazon.com, the app allows you to compare prices across many merchants, track orders and make wish lists. You can even link your Amazon.com account to your mobile device for easy access to your already existing customer account.
Shopping on your smartphone, tablet or other mobile device can help eliminate the stress of mall shopping this holiday season. Why brave the crowds when you can do all of your shopping on your mobile device from the comfort of your couch?
