Apple’s 2015 Keynote Hits the Right Notes
During Apple’s much anticipated keynote event on Sept. 9, the tech-titans announced some exciting updates designed to transform old favorites into something completely new. From new iPhones and iPad to updates to Apple TV, there was something for everyone in the Apple event.
Here are all the highlights.
Apple has refined the Apple Watch’s OS with watchOS 2. With watchOS 2, you can expect improved app performance and more face options, including time-lapse videos of such places as Paris, London, and New York, or you can feature shots from your own photo album which will change pictures every time you raise your wrist. The new watchOS 2 is slated for a September 16th release. The Apple Watch Sport also is getting some colorful updates and it’s now available in rose gold and gold as well as different sports straps, including a swanky leather strap from fashion brand Hermes.
Everyone’s favorite tablet is getting a major makeover as the all new iPad Pro. At 12.9 inches, the iPad Pro is Apple’s largest iOS device which the company wagers will give desktop computers a run for their money. The iPad Pro boasts a 64-bit A9X chip, iSight Camera and four-speaker audio system. The iPad Pro also has some cool features like the Apple Smart Keyboard, a detachable full-sized keyboard, and the Apple Pencil, a pencil shaped stylus which is sensitive to both pressure and tilt allowing a vast array of artistic lines. The iPad Pro will be available in November.
The latest and quite possibly the most anticipated update to an Apple product was for Apple TV, which has been completely updated for today’s streaming generation. Apple has FINALLY created a more user friendly remote, the Touch surface Siri Remote. With the Touch surface you can scroll through apps and TV shows or skip the scrolling altogether and just tell Siri what you want to watch. The integration of Siri into the latest Apple TV has many perks. If you miss a quiet moment of dialogue, just ask Siri what was said and Siri will rewind the movie by 15 seconds and temporarily enable subtitles. The App Store is also coming to the new Apple TV so you’ll be able to enjoy the latest apps in full screen.
The latest addition to the iPhone family, the 6s leaves much to lust over. The new 3D Touch senses how deeply you press the display, improving user experience and opening a whole new world of “fingertip” navigation. The 6s comes equipped with the 12-megapixel iSight camera which also takes 4K video. One of the coolest features is the new Live Photos which will take a short video of when a photo was taken so you can relive every special moment. Rose gold is the new color for Apple this season and will be added to the latest iPhone color options. The iPhone 6s will also run iOS 9, Apple’s most advanced operating system, which also features Apple’s highest security and privacy functions to keep your information safe. Also available on iOS 9 is Apple’s News platform, which allows you to get all of the latest stories from all of your favorite top news sources in one app.
The iPhone 6s starts pre-orders on September 12.
