Facebook Debuts Personalized News App ‘Paper’

Facebook just turned 10 years old this week, but instead of facing growing pains, the social media giant debuted a current news iPhone app titled ‘Paper.’ The news apps is going up against Google News, Twitter, and LinkedIn’s Pulse; among other newsworthy mobile sources.

By downloading Paper, users can leaf through visually stimulating stories, just as they would have with a glossy magazine. In addition, users can check their Facebook notifications and newsfeed simultaneously.

There is speculation on whether users should replace their current Facebook app with Paper; especially in case the original Facebook app should someday become obsolete. Users should note that there are specific limitations that may inhibit their Facebook experience.

If you are a manager behind a Facebook fan page on behalf of your business, cause, or creative pursuit, you will not be able to post as that entity on Paper.

Paper will also not allow you to view the ‘most recent’ real-time newsfeed that is present on the original Facebook app. You will, however, have the capacity to handpick which content lands on your newsfeed based on the buzzwords you select.

It may take some time to adjust to the new settings Paper has to offer, but as soon as you adapt to Facebook’s reimagined offering, you may appreciate the app for what it sets out to become: “the best personalized newspaper in the world.”
