Teens Are, Like, So Over Facebook, Flocking to Twitter Now

Published On May 23, 2013 | Tech Business

We all know teens are all about the latest fad. Now, they’re walking away from Facebook and shifting to Twitter. Nearly 25 percent of teens now use Twitter to stay up to date with friends and stalk – I mean “follow”– celebrities.

According to the LA Times,

“One in four online teens uses Twitter, up from 16% in 2011, according to a survey by the Pew Research Center and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. That’s higher than the 16% of online adults who now use Twitter.”

Although Facebook remains the most popular social network for teens — 94 percent of online teens say they have a profile on Facebook — more and more young adults are turning to Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram. In fact, seven percent of online teens now say they use Twitter most often.

Whether they enjoy the privacy that Twitter has to offer, or simply want to hop onto the next bandwagon, more teens are shifting to Twitter.
